eLearning and Video Services

eLearning and Video Services provides integrated training and support in uses of technology to support the university's primary mission: teaching and learning.

eLearning provides training and support to our faculty and students in integration and uses of learning technologies to enhance teaching and learning with GDOC (Gallaudet Dynamic Online Collaboration) systems. GDOC is used both as a supplement for face-to-face (web-enhanced) courses and for web-based courses offered completely on-line. The online learning portal will connect you to your courses, organizations, and other academic and administrative websites and other resources at http://my.Gallaudet.edu, which is powered by the tools in the Blackboard Academic Suite including a learning, community, and content systems.

Video Services is responsible for Gallaudet's video production, digital (on-line) video, and the Cable TV system. It also manages television production services for the Clerc Center. It provides video, multimedia, and captioning services for the campus community. As a unit of Academic Technology, the department's priority is providing technical support and assistance to faculty in support of student learning.

  • Captioning services are an integral part of our mission of accessibility. Captioning services are available in all video formats including DVD, CD, and web clips.

  • Cable TV Services provides broadcast, cable, and campus channels to the dormitories and campus buildings. It is also responsible for duplication of videotapes for widespread distribution.

eLearning Mission

eLearning enhances learning and academic rigor through provision, training, and support of learning systems and tools, supports assessment of student performance, including testing and ePortfolios, support academic applications of web and portal technologies, and provides system administration and programming for academic systems.

Video Services Mission

Video Services supports the development and use of academic video for courses, BISON TV, and promotion of academic programs; produces institutional video for recruitment, central administration communication, and recording of campus events; and manages the Gallaudet Video Library, AVID, myMedia, and video servers, as well as supporting offline captioning and maintenance of Gallaudet 's cable TV system.
